Video: Trinamool leader survives murder bid, shooter chased by politician

A Trinamool Congress councillor, Sushanta Ghosh, narrowly escaped an alleged assassination attempt in Kolkata after the attacker’s gun malfunctioned, according to the police.
Subsequently, the accused was chased by Ghosh and caught with the help of locals and Trinamool supporters and handed over to the police.
The dramatic incident, which occurred just in front of Ghosh’s residence at around 8 pm on Friday night, was captured on CCTV.

The video shows two men on a bike stopping near Ghosh while he was sitting outside his residence, along with another man and woman.
The pillion rider, armed with a revolver, attempted to shoot the councillor at close range. However, the firearm malfunctioned, preventing the attack.
Seeing their plan fail, the two men tried to escape the scene. However, Ghosh and local residents swiftly apprehended the assailant before he could flee.
Police have recovered a revolver and two magazines from the arrested individual. During interrogation, he confessed to being hired by a man named Mohammed Iqbal to kill Ghosh.
The second assailant, who managed to escape, is still being sought by the police.
